The weather in Dubai is amazing right now. Ideal time for some hot spicy food. Here I am sharing a recipe for a quick and easy spicy fish curry that would be ideal in this beautiful weather. In fact if you are down with a cold because of the weather…spicy food just might be what the doctor ordered. Spicy foods can make a our noses run and eyes water but they are effective decongestants. So with or without a cold I am sure you will enjoy this curry .
Spicy fish curry
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 onions
- 4 cloves of garlic
- a small piece of ginger
- 2 green chilies
- 7 tbsp tomato puree (pomme)
- 150 gms coconut milk powder
- 2 white fish fillets cut into chunks
- 1/2 tsp each of turmeric, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala and red chilli powder.
- fresh coriander leaves chopped for garnishing
In a blender combine the onion, ginger, garlic and green chilies to make a fine paste. In a pan heat the oil, then add the paste and cook till evenly browned. Now add the tomato paste followed by all the spices and coconut milk. Mix well. In another pan pour some oil and shallow fry the fish. Now add the fish in the curry and simmer for a few minute. Garnish with coriander and Serve with warm flat bread or rice.
PS. if you can’t handle too much spicy food omit the green chilies. You can substitute cooked prawns for the fish and enjoy a delicious prawn curry instead.
